Nga Rongoā Motuhake

It’s time to sit back and relax – nothing can bother you now. Turn off your phone and lay down… this is going to be an amazing experience. You may experience a number of different things ranging from tension-release as muscles relax with soft to deep tissue massage, freedom as your body lets go, allowing space for an increased flow of energy as spiritual energies flow through to invigorate and protect the body.

Reflexology has many beneficial and lasting effects. Some treatments are gentle in nature, aiming to restore your system for better function, while others are more specific, addressing the client’s particular conditions. It’s a healing process that can be safely used when it is not convenient to treat other body parts.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage can ease some of the aches and pains of pregnancy and help you relax. It may also reduce swelling, improve mood, and help relieve some pregnancy depression and anxiety. Here at Mihi’s Place, we aim to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and make you feel good. But prenatal massage is also customised to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies,

Carrying a baby inside you changes your centre of gravity and puts a lot of stress on your back, neck, abdominal muscles, and shoulders. Pregnancy also relaxes your ligaments, meaning your pelvic joints are less stable, and it also changes your posture, pulling your pelvis forward. Add the extra weight you’re carrying, and you may end up with an aching lower back.

You can get a prenatal massage at any point in pregnancy, as long as you have your doctor or midwife’s okay. Some massage therapists won’t see pregnant women until the second trimester because of the increased risk of miscarriage in the first trimester. But there’s no evidence or reason to believe that prenatal massage in the first trimester would raise your miscarriage risk; therefore, we are still happy to treat you.

Here are some ways Pre-natal Massage can help:

– Improve mood and lower stress levels

– Help with pregnancy depression and anxiety

– Reduce swelling in the legs

Getting a pregnancy massage can also put you in a more relaxed state of mind to help you cope with all the significant changes that are going on in your life.

Children 5 - 10 years

Infant massage has long been a common practice in many cultures. Many indigenous tribes use some form of bodywork to soothe, relax, and heal their little ones, sometimes including scented oils and herbal remedies as part of the experience. With our modern technology and hurried lives, we frequently lack quality family time and touch each other less. The ancient practice of massage can also reaffirm a close bond with our older children to convey a comforting sense of security and trust.

Touch is the first sense to develop in humans. It is essential to our health and well-being. Children who learn healthy views of touch and are provided with positive tactile experiences such as safe massage grow up to be adults with healthy self-esteem, a sense of appropriate boundaries, and long-lasting intimate relationships. Here at Mihi’s Place, we offer a safe environment where your child can experience the relaxation of massage and enjoy the benefits for their growing bodies.
