Awheawhe

Join Mihi on a learning experience and reconnect with your ancestor’s wisdom, knowledge and remedies.

Mihi’s Place offers three individual workshops in Haumiri, Honohono and Rongoā Rākau giving the participants hands on experience and on completion of each area a Certificate in Rongoā Māori Appreciation.

Practices are based on a holistic model that incorporates the physical, emotional, family and spiritual, and takes into account culture and history. These forms of healing will promote additional levels of wellness and are complimentary to current western medicine.

The healing and therapeutic practices may be used together or independently and are available for a wide range of conditions and illnesses.

These teaching are an integrated system linked through whakapapa, which contains all of the vital elements Wairua – Spiritual, Mana – Power, Mauri – Life Force, Tapu – Sacred, Noa – Without restraints and Aroha –Love.

Haumiri (Massage)

Haumiri is a form of Māori massage with a range of technique used with variations in pressure rhythmically and gradually building up speed and pressure. Haumiri goes beyond relaxation. With areas of focus and desired outcome. Haumiri also works with intuition, inspired by nature and guided by wairua (spirit).

Honohono (Spiritual energy healing)

Honohono is an integrated system linked through whakapapa, which contains all of the vital elements Wairua - Spiritual, Mana - Power, Mauri - Life Force, Tapu - Sacred, Noa - Without restraints and Aroha –Love. Honohono is a guided method of healing that helps to activate your energies and links you to your higher self and tūpuna.

Ngā Rongoā Rakau (Herbal medicines/remedies)

Despite an everchanging world, the traditional values and practices of our Māori ancestors remain here in Aotearoa – New Zealand. Each person who contributes toward rongoā is like the strand of a finely woven whāriki – fine mat, binding together each whakapapa – genealogical origins, strengthening the very essence of rongoā, now and into the future. Rongoā is a gift from nature; it is often basic food found in our diet and includes a wide range of leaves, bark, berries, roots, gums, seeds, stems and flowers. They have been used for hundreds of years to help maintain and restore good health. Mihi’s Place acknowledges the rich traditional diversity that exists within rongoā throughout.
